On June 21 – the day with the most light – the summer solstice, Floridians will join thousands of advocates across the country to participate in The Longest Day.
Longest Day participants can support the event at home, online or in person activities– biking, hiking, playing bridge, knitting and more – to honor the more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and the more than 11 million family members and friends providing care and support.
In the Southeast Florida Chapter alone, there are more than 175,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease. Statewide, more than 827,000 are serving as caregivers for those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia.
Events around the Miami area include:
- Angelique Suarez, a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association who lost her father to the disease will be hosting ‘Sip, Salon & Shop Event.’ The event will be held at Waxmee Salon & Spa which is located at 1759 SW 3rd Ave, Miami, FL 33129
