The Longest Day: Find an Event Near You in Central & North Florida

On June 21 – the day with the most light – the summer solstice, Floridians will join thousands of advocates across the country to participate in The Longest Day.

Longest Day participants can support the event at home, online or in person activities– biking, hiking, playing bridge, knitting and more – to honor the more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and the more than 11 million family members and friends providing care and support.

In the Central and North Florida Chapter alone, there are nearly 180,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease. Statewide, more than 827,000 are serving as caregivers for those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia.

Events in Central & North Florida will include:

  • Orlando Goes Purple. Amanda Harris, who lost her father to the disease, and Team Larry’s Gene’s will host a lighting ceremony at Lake Eola as it goes purple for Alzheimer’s. The park will have discounted Wheel tickets available for the entire week leading up to TLD and will donate a portion of the sales to the Alzheimer’s Association. Tickets to ride will be $10 instead of the retail rate of $33.99. Click here for the Wheel discount offer.
